3.上期回顧
We derived the economy's average growth rate and the variance of the economy's growth rate. We then identified the first-order condition that maximizes social welfare and compared it with the laissez-faire equilibrium. Subsequently, we relaxed the assumption of drastic innovations and examined the conditions under which innovations are nondrastic, so that the incumbent may have incentive for innovation.
4.本期預告
We will continue to relax the assumptions of the baseline model. First, we will endogenize the step size and analyze the changes in the optimal step size. Next, we will consider how a monopolist can influence the arrival rate of innovation by adjusting wages. Finally, we will relax the assumption of a single-sector innovation and examine the changes in innovation behavior when there are multiple intermediate sectors.
