3.上期回顧
We introduced the setup of the baseline model. We showed that in equilibrium, the marginal cost of R&D is increasing in research employment, while the marginal benefit of R&D is decreasing in research employment. We also obtained two long-term equilibrium states: first, the R&D labor is a constant number; second, it follows a two-cycle dynamics. Finally, we derived the conditions under which the R&D labor is positive.
4.本期預告
We will continue to investigate the distribution of the equilibrium R&D labor and derive the steady state that maximizes welfare. We will then relax several assumptions in the baseline model to see their implications, including non-drastic innovations, endogenous size of innovations, and multiple intermediate goods.
